Along the bank of Asanogawa River, there is a place full of charm, quiet and beautiful, the traditional teahouses district Kazuemachi Chayagai. Its teahouses characterized by red color latticed and narrow alleys, inspired Kyoka Izumi, a famous Kanazawa writer.

Higashi Chayagai district is located at the foot of Mt. Utatsu, a teahouse town with a long history and beautiful latticed teahouses architecture. It has become a standard spot for sightseeing in Kanazawa, with plenty of souvenir and craft shops and cafes. It is the vibrant heart of Kanazawa culture, can enjoy in daytime but also at night.

If Higashi Chayagai district is the heart of Kanazawa culture, Omicho Market is the center of Kanazawa gastronomy. This retail market has been around for nearly 300 years. A lot of local seafood, vegetables and fruits are lined up at the store around 8 am. We recommend you to visit it by around noon when there is a wide selection of products.

Built in 1583, The Kanazawa Castle has been rebuilt several times and it is now maintained and restaured respecting the tradition and history. It is the symbol of the city, inheritance of the culture, the history, and traditions of the region.

The jewel of the city located nearby the Kanazawa Castle. Shaped by successive lords of the Kaga domain (the ancient name of the region) the Kenrokuen garden is loved and protected by local citizens. The art of Japanese garden is here magnified in all its splendor. It is a truly masterpiece where technique is combined with a great sensibility creating beauty and harmony that can be admired for all four seasons. 

The nearest entrance from the Ryokan is the Katsurazaka Gate.

Oyama Shrine, is the main shinto sanctuary of Kanazawa which is dedicated to Toshiie Maeda and his wife, Omatsu, who laid the foundation of Kanazawa. The main gate designed with impressive stained glass, mixing Japanese and Western architectural style, gives to this sanctuary a unique atmosphere underlined by its garden and the different objects placed in its precincts.

The circular, omnidirectional glass facade reflect the will of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, to be an open museum that connects people, traditions, and art. Located near the Castle and the Kenrokuen garden, the Museum is a perfect place to feel serenity and peace and take a break.

The Maeda loads who ruled the Kaga domain (ancient name of the actual Kanazawa) has early decided to promote crafts as a political weapon rather than martial arts and war. Attracting many craftsmen from different parts of Japan, the Kaga domain became quickly well reputed and today Ishikawa Prefecture is regarded as one of the most prosperous traditional crafts region of Japan. 

The National Craft Museum holds and exhibits all types of crafts such as Wajima-nuri lacquerware, Kutani porcelain, Kaga Yuzen silk dyeing.  The works of living national treasure craftsmen are also extremely substantial.

Localized about an 10-minute walk from Kanazawa Castle, Nagamachi district was the old neighborhood of feudal samurai residences. The cobbletsone and narrow alleys, earthen walls, private entrance gates, and water canals let the visitors feeling the remnants of the past. Today, it is possible to visit one of this residence open to the public the Nomura Samurai Family Residence.

Myoryuji Temple, also known as "Ninja Temple" is located in Teramachi district, the district of temples. The temple was built by the Maeda lords as a disguised military outpost in case of an attack. The Ninja temple has many hidden defences against attack.

Kanazawa Station is famous for its Tsuzumi-mon Gate and fountain clock.
